Notice to Student:

The Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing has established a minimum rate of 80% for graduates of nursing programs to pass the national licensure exam (NCLEX) testing for the first time.  Our school has a long history of strong pass rates.  However, for the 2014 year (testers between 10/1/2014 and 9/30/2014) our pass rate was only 78.13%.  We have been placed on provisional status with the Board.

This change in status does not affect our ability to enroll new students or for our graduates to take the NCLEX.  It means that our Program is required to submit a plan of improvement to the Board.  The faculty has reviewed our curriculum and approach to preparing students for NCLEX and has a plan already in place. We had already made changes to our test plans and to our requirements for passing from one level to the next in our Program in response to changes in the NCLEX overall test plan made as of April 2014.

We have plans in place and resources available for every accepted student to be given the tools to be successful in acquiring a license. One piece of evidence to support this belief is that our most recent graduating class in September 2014 has 100% pass rate to date (12 of 19 graduates tested as of today). We feel confident that these measures will be effective in raising our pass rates to an acceptable level.
